Mikrosam will showcase its latest developments in affordable Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and in-house prepreg slitting and rewinding technologies at JEC World 2026. Visitors can meet the Mikrosam team in Hall 6, Booth D61, where the company will demonstrate how advanced composite automation can be made more accessible, flexible, and cost-efficient.
With more than 35 years of experience in composite manufacturing automation, Mikrosam delivers turnkey solutions covering the entire production chain – from material preparation to final part manufacturing and digital integration. At JEC World 2026, the company’s primary focus will be on democratizing AFP technology, addressing the growing demand for high-performance composites beyond traditional aerospace applications.

Mikrosam’s next-generation AFP systems are designed as modular, scalable platforms suitable for research centers, prototyping, and industrial production. The machines support both thermoset and thermoplastic materials and dry-fiber, with tape widths from ¼”, ½” up to 2”. Advanced robotic control, optimized tape handling, and optional in-situ consolidation enable high placement accuracy, repeatable quality, and faster return on investment. These solutions are already trusted by aerospace, defense, and research organizations such as NIAR, Qarbon Aerospace, McNAIR, and GKN Fokker, where consistent quality and structural integrity are critical.
A second key highlight at the Mikrosam stand will be its portfolio of prepreg slitting and rewinding machines, engineered to improve material supply flexibility and reduce dependency on external suppliers. These systems convert wide prepreg rolls into narrow tapes required for AFP and ATL processes, achieving slit accuracy down to ±0.125 mm.

By bringing slitting and rewinding operations in-house, manufacturers can shorten lead times, reduce material waste, and rapidly qualify new materials. Integrated tension control, inspection, and traceability features ensure stable processing for both production and R&D environments.

Finally, as a global leader in filament winding technology, Mikrosam will present its automated winding solutions, including multi-spindle machines with advanced process control, a new and improved automatic cut-and-restart system for pipes and small diameters, with full SCADA, manufacturing historian integration for high-volume composite production.
At JEC World 2026, the company will demonstrate how manufacturers can gain greater control over composite manufacturing – from material preparation to final part – while improving efficiency, sustainability, and cost competitiveness.
